Having set up Funding Tribe, Jon looked to establish a highly experienced team around him across a range of sectors to meet the needs of the client and the business. Funding Tribe Limited will look to grow the team as and when required.

Jon Emery

Managing Director

Jon has 40 years banking experience with a main high street bank, before retiring in 2016. His last role was a Corporate Relationship Director, for 15 years, where he looked after a portfolio of circa 45 clients turning over > £5m and /or borrowing more than £3m. On retirement he became a Governor at several schools, which he is still involved with, as well as helping and providing advice to a family run hotel. Jon is an Associate of Institute of Bankers (ACIB).

Shaista Maartensz

Director of Finance

Shay is an experienced and driven finance director with over 20 year’s experience of leading financial strategies to facilitate companies ambitious growth plans. She has a BA (Hons) degree in Financial Management and Marketing, is ACCA qualified and is also Association of Chartered Certified and is a member of the Association of Accounting Technician and qualified in Advanced Bookkeeping & Computerised Accounts.

Kalvin Newnham

Commercial Manager

Kalvin has more than 20 years experience in the construction industry. Having obtained his degree, BSc Hons in Quantity Surveying and Land Estate Management, he started as a trainee quantity surveyor with John Mowlem Construction. He has had a number of senior roles in the construction sector as Senior Quantity Surveyor and Senior Commercial Director. Previous roles have been with the likes of Crispin & Borst, Taylor Wimpey, Berkeley Homes, Balfour Beatty, Galliford Try and Mansells to name but a few.

Brooke May

PA/Administration

Brooke has previously worked for numerous companies within the construction sector where she has held the role of PA, solely reporting to the Managing Director.

Osman Rankin

Osman has been a debt capital adviser in the banking and development industry for over 23 years – 10 years at UBS and 13 years as an independent adviser. His career started with seven years at John Charcol, who were repeatedly award winners during his period there. In 2006 he joined UBS Wealth Management to focus on arranging lending for their HNW and UHNW clients, covering predominantly non UK residents and complex UK borrowers.

In 2009 Osman took over running of the mortgage desk in the UK. Under Osman’s leadership the desk grew from two to a team of twelve. UBS went on to become the 13th largest lender in the UK, according to Council of Mortgage lenders data in 2012 and 2013, which is unprecedented for a private bank.

This mortgage desk won the much-coveted prize of Best Private Bank at the industry Mortgage Strategy awards in 2013. The mortgage desk was recognised by the judges for the complexity of the deals they worked on and for the high level of service the desk provided. After ten years of handling some of the most complex mortgage deals the London market has seen.

Ian Plunkett

Ian is a Chartered Accountant having qualified in 1974. He trained at a City firm, before moving to a firm in Essex in 1976. During his career he has been through 2 mergers, one of which he engineered and successfully made the firm one of the largest accountants in the region.

During his career, he dealt with business acquisitions, sales, mergers and special exercises and dealt with mini disputes. At his firm, Rickard Luckin, he had three periods where he was Managing Director and from 1990 to 2018 was always on the main Board directing the firm’s growth. Also during that period he served as President of the South Essex Society of Chartered Accountants and also a Trustee on various trusts, principally involving property. Property and construction is his main area of expertise and his principal clients are mainly in that industry.

He enjoys helping businesses to grow and solve disputes and raise finance. His forte is knowing people and what makes them tick and identifying good people both within business and within the accountancy profession. He has dealt with many quite difficult situations and managed to resolve them as a result of discussion, persuasion and winning arguments.

He retired as a director of Rickard Luckin in September 2020 and now work as a consultant to a few businesses and is lucky enough to be able to select whom he wishes to work and be involved with.
